Independent Leybold support from the coating chamber through the foreline
Leybold equipment may appear as a complete thin-film coating platform, a large oil diffusion pump, an oil-vapor booster, a fore-vacuum package, a set of valves and gauges, or a combination of original and later-generation components integrated into another manufacturer’s chamber.
This manufacturer page identifies the Leybold equipment families and system-level support paths YTI can review. It does not replace YTI’s dedicated service pages. Use those pages for detailed field troubleshooting, diffusion-pump refurbishment, mechanical-pump work, preventive maintenance, controls modernization, fabrication, critical spares or chamber rebuilding.
Leybold equipment families
Current, legacy and integrated Leybold equipment YTI can review
Vacuum Coating & Thin-Film Deposition Systems
Research, pilot and production coating platforms, including UNIVEX-type and other Leybold chambers that may use evaporation, electron-beam, sputtering or mixed deposition processes with original or retrofitted pumping and controls.
DIP & DIFFVAC Oil Diffusion Pumps
Large water-cooled oil diffusion pumps and related high-vacuum assemblies whose inlet size, jet-stack design, heater configuration, cooling, pump fluid, baffle and backing requirements must be evaluated together.
Oil-Vapor Booster & Transitional Pumping Equipment
Oil-vapor booster assemblies and process pumping configurations used where gas throughput, working pressure and foreline performance require a different operating range than a standard high-vacuum diffusion pump.
Backing Pumps, Roots Boosters & Pumping Packages
Oil-sealed, dry and booster equipment integrated with Leybold coating systems, including TRIVAC-, SOGEVAC-, DRYVAC- and RUVAC-type configurations whose support scope must be confirmed by exact model and condition.
Valves, Baffles, Cold Caps, Gauges & Pump Controls
High-vacuum valves, foreline valves, vent and roughing valves, baffles, cold caps, heaters, temperature controls, vacuum gauges, pump controllers and interlocks that protect the chamber and coordinate the pump sequence.
Modified Leybold Chambers & Integrated Vacuum Equipment
Older systems that combine Leybold pumps or chambers with third-party deposition sources, controls, cryogenic equipment, gauges, valves or custom-fabricated hardware. YTI reviews the actual installed configuration rather than relying only on the original nameplate.

Common performance problems
Common Leybold faults and vacuum-system concerns
Slow Pump-Down
Longer cycles may involve chamber leaks, process outgassing, contaminated surfaces, backing-pump wear, valve restriction, poor conductance, incorrect sequence or reduced high-vacuum pump performance.
Start system troubleshooting →Poor Ultimate Vacuum
A higher base pressure can result from leaks, gauge error, pump-fluid condition, damaged jets, heater output, cooling problems, backing pressure, valve leakage or contamination throughout the chamber and foreline.
View diffusion-pump refurbishment →Heater or Warm-Up Problems
Slow heating, uneven temperature, failed heater circuits, contactor faults, incorrect voltage or wattage, damaged terminals and poor thermal transfer can reduce throughput or prevent proper pump operation.
Review diffusion-pump heaters →Backstreaming or Film Contamination
Oil migration can be influenced by pump fluid, baffle condition, cooling, operating pressure, valve timing, chamber geometry, pump cleanliness, startup and shutdown practices or process load.
Review common pump fluids →High Backing Pressure
Foreline pressure that rises under load may point to backing-pump wear, contaminated oil, booster problems, blocked lines, valve issues, exhaust restriction or a mismatch between the diffusion pump and backing system.
View mechanical-pump refurbishment →Valve, Leak or Conductance Problems
Leaking seals, incomplete valve travel, damaged actuators, undersized transitions, blocked baffles or poor chamber-to-pump conductance can mimic pump failure and destabilize the process.
View vacuum fabrication support →Control or Interlock Faults
Failed gauges, temperature switches, flow permissives, relay logic, PLC inputs, contactors or valve sequencing can prevent startup, force shutdowns or leave the pump operating outside the intended conditions.
View controls modernization →Legacy System Reliability
Repeated faults across pumps, valves, gauges, wiring and controls may indicate that isolated repairs are no longer enough and the chamber needs coordinated refurbishment, repurposing or a critical-spares plan.
