Profilometers
& Helium Leak Detectors
Explore stylus surface-profile instruments, measurement heads, stages, electronics, helium mass-spectrometer leak detectors, probes, calibration hardware and the supporting equipment used to verify coating results and vacuum integrity.
Verify the Surface. Verify the Vacuum.
Two instrument families that answer different but equally important production questions
Profilometers verify what happened on the part. A stylus travels across the sample and converts vertical motion into a measurable profile that can be used to evaluate step height, film-thickness differences, surface features and roughness.
Helium leak detectors verify whether the vacuum boundary is sound. They help technicians find leaks in chambers, valves, feedthroughs, welded assemblies, piping and components so a system can reach and maintain the pressure required for the process.
Equipment Categories
Profilometry and leak-detection equipment YTI supports
Stylus Surface Profilometers
Bench instruments that trace a sample surface to measure step height, film-thickness differences, topography, roughness and other profile features used in process verification.
Styluses & Measurement Heads
Diamond styluses, tip-radius options, force and head assemblies that determine how the instrument contacts the sample and resolves narrow, soft, rough or delicate features.
Stages, Fixtures & Sample Positioning
Sample stages, leveling, travel mechanisms, fixtures and positioning hardware that keep the scan aligned, repeatable and appropriate for the part geometry.
Instrument Electronics & Data Systems
Controllers, monitors, computers, lamps, plotters, displays, signal electronics, software interfaces and output hardware used to operate and interpret the instrument.
Helium Mass-Spectrometer Leak Detectors
Vacuum instruments that identify helium entering or leaving a test object and help locate leaks that affect chamber performance, component quality and system reliability.
Probes, Calibration Leaks & Test Fixtures
Sniffer probes, spray tools, calibrated helium leaks, hoses, inlet connections, test chambers, blank-offs and fixtures that make a leak test controlled and repeatable.
Measurement Architecture
Six layers behind a trustworthy profile or leak-test result
Part or Vacuum Boundary
The coated sample, wafer, component, chamber, welded assembly, flange, feedthrough or sealed volume that must be measured or tested.
Measurement Interface
The profilometer stylus and sample fixture—or the leak-detector inlet, probe, hood, fixture and helium application method.
Motion & Gas Handling
Stage travel, scan speed and leveling for profilometry; test-object evacuation, pumping path, tracer-gas delivery and background control for leak detection.
Sensor & Analyzer
The profilometer measurement head and displacement signal—or the leak detector’s analyzer, ion source, detector and associated vacuum hardware.
Electronics & Data
Controllers, displays, computers, plotters, software, signal processing, alarms, ranges and records that turn the instrument response into usable information.
Calibration & Interpretation
Reference standards, calibrated leaks, setup verification, baseline checks, analysis settings and the process knowledge required to trust the result.
Selection & Application
What determines the correct instrument, accessory and test method
Feature & Range
Expected step height, roughness, feature width, scan length and required resolution—or anticipated leak rate, test volume and sensitivity.
Sample & Material
Sample size, surface hardness, coating type, fragility, curvature, cleanliness and whether contact measurement is acceptable.
Stylus & Scan Setup
Tip radius, stylus condition, tracking force, scan speed, leveling, fixture stability, measurement location and analysis settings.
Test Method
Vacuum mode, sniffer mode, hood testing, spray sequence, tracer-gas concentration, dwell time, pumping configuration and acceptance limit.
Calibration & Standards
Step-height standards, roughness standards, calibrated helium leaks, calibration interval, instrument baseline and documentation requirements.
Background & Environment
Vibration, temperature, sample cleanliness, electrical noise, helium background, room airflow, trapped volumes and test-area contamination.
Data & Reporting
Profile output, trace storage, plots, statistics, pass/fail limits, calibration records, leak-rate units and connection to the quality process.
Legacy Compatibility
