Moving a coating line is not the same as moving ordinary industrial equipment

Vacuum coating systems are integrated machines. The chamber, pumps, controls, power supplies, cooling circuits, pneumatics, process gas connections, feedthroughs, sensors, deposition sources, gauges, PLCs, software, exhaust, utilities, and facility interfaces all have to work together. A move that is treated only as a rigging project can create problems that do not appear until the system is being restarted.

YTI approaches decommissioning by first understanding and documenting how the equipment is operating before it is taken apart. Connections are identified, components are labeled, photos and reference information are captured, and the disassembly sequence is planned around successful reinstallation—not simply around getting the machine out of the building.

Safe shutdown, documentation, disassembly and move preparation

The decommissioning phase is built around preserving information and preventing damage. YTI reviews the existing system, documents the configuration, and plans how equipment should be disconnected and prepared for relocation.

Pre-Move System Assessment

Review system configuration, process equipment, pumps, utilities, controls, known problems, service history, and the intended destination or new plant layout.

Baseline Operating Validation

Where practical, document key pre-move operating conditions such as vacuum performance, pump operation, controls, instrumentation, cooling, source operation, and known process behavior.

Safe Shutdown & Isolation Planning

Coordinate controlled shutdown and isolation of electrical, cooling, pneumatic, vacuum, exhaust, and process interfaces in accordance with the approved site and equipment procedures.

Connection Identification & Labeling

Tag and document cables, hoses, water lines, gas lines, pneumatics, controls, sensors, power supplies, pump connections, feedthroughs, and equipment interfaces before separation.

Mechanical Disassembly

Disassemble appropriate chamber hardware, manifolds, pump sets, cryogenic equipment, sources, instrumentation, controls, and auxiliary equipment according to the approved move plan.

Electrical & Controls Disconnect

Document and disconnect applicable power supplies, control panels, sensors, PLC-related connections, instrumentation, source controls, interlocks, and supporting electronics.

Equipment Reassembly & Alignment

Reassemble chamber hardware, pumps, sources, manifolds, instrumentation, controls, cryogenic equipment, and supporting components using the move documentation and labeling system.

Utility & Interface Reconnection

Coordinate reconnection of applicable power, cooling, pneumatics, exhaust, process interfaces, controls, sensors, pump utilities, and communication connections.

Vacuum Integrity & Leak Testing

Perform vacuum-system checks and helium mass-spectrometer leak testing where included in scope to identify sealing, flange, feedthrough, connection, or assembly problems before production startup.

Controls & Instrumentation Verification

Verify applicable gauges, sensors, interlocks, power supplies, controllers, communications, PLC-related functions, and system responses after reconnection.

Calibration Support

Support calibration or verification of applicable gauges, deposition instrumentation, controllers, mass-flow devices, sensors, and other process-critical instrumentation within the agreed scope.

Moving the line across the plant or across the country
