& Vacuum Instrumentation
Understand the equipment that measures deposition rate, film thickness, vacuum pressure and process conditions—from crystal sensor heads, oscillators and controllers to gauges, transducers, interfaces, alarms and automation—then connect to the correct YTI repair, refurbishment, upgrade, stocking or field-support page.
Equipment Category Hub
The measurement chain behind repeatable vacuum coating
Deposition controllers and vacuum instruments turn physical process conditions into usable information. A crystal monitor estimates rate and accumulated thickness. Vacuum gauges show whether the chamber, foreline and process are in the correct pressure range. Sensors, interfaces and control outputs connect those measurements to sources, shutters, pumps, valves, alarms and operators.
This page organizes those equipment families and the system relationships around them. Use it to understand the complete measurement chain, compare equipment roles, identify manufacturers and connected systems, and continue to YTI’s focused pages for component-level repair, full electronics refurbishment, controls modernization, field troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, replacement parts or chamber integration.
Measurement & Control Equipment
Controllers and instruments YTI supports
The correct equipment path depends on what must be measured, the required range and accuracy, the process environment, sensor location, source type, available interfaces and how the signal is used by the chamber.
Deposition Rate & Thickness Controllers
Controllers and monitors that convert crystal-frequency change into deposition rate and accumulated thickness, apply material and tooling parameters, display process status, manage setpoints and provide outputs for source or shutter control.
Crystal Sensor Heads, Oscillators & Crystals
In-chamber sensor heads, quartz crystals, water-cooled holders, shutters, oscillators, cables and vacuum feedthroughs that create and transmit the measurement signal used by the deposition controller.
Vacuum Gauges, Transducers & Readouts
Thermocouple, Pirani, capacitance, ionization and other pressure-measurement devices used across roughing, foreline, high-vacuum and process-pressure ranges.
Gas, Temperature & Process Instrumentation
Residual-gas analysis, temperature sensing, flow and pressure instrumentation, process monitors and supporting electronics used to understand chamber condition and coating behavior.
Source Feedback, Shutter & Interface Controls
Analog and digital outputs, source-rate feedback, shutter logic, setpoint relays, alarms, communications and interfaces that turn measurement into controlled chamber action.
Control Panels, Data Interfaces & Mixed-Brand Systems
Older or modified systems where controllers, gauges, sensor wiring, relay logic, PLCs, HMIs, source electronics and chamber interfaces must be evaluated as one connected package.
Measurement System Architecture
Six layers between the process and the operator
Reliable readings depend on the complete signal chain. A working controller can still display unstable or misleading information when the sensor, cable, feedthrough, material settings, grounding, source behavior or chamber conditions are wrong.
Process & Measurement Goal
Film material, target rate and thickness, process pressure, required accuracy, cycle sequence, chamber geometry and what the measurement must control or verify.
In-Chamber Sensor
Quartz crystal and sensor head, gauge tube, transducer, temperature sensor, gas analyzer inlet or other device exposed to the actual process condition.
Signal Path
Oscillator, cable, connector, vacuum feedthrough, shielding, grounding, signal conditioning and physical routing between the chamber and electronics.
Controller & Measurement Model
Electronics, calibration, material density, acoustic impedance, tooling factor, gauge range, gas correction, setpoints, scaling and display logic.
Feedback & Actuation
Source-output command, shutter control, alarms, setpoint relays, pump or valve permissives, analog outputs and communications used to influence the process.
Operator, Data & Automation
Front-panel display, recorder, PLC, HMI, recipe system, data logging, network interface, trend history, maintenance records and operator decisions.
Selection & Integration
What determines a trustworthy measurement system
Sensor Placement & Tooling
Sensor location, line of sight, shielding, source geometry, substrate position and tooling factor determine how closely the sensor represents the actual film on the part.
